Change can present challenges that can feel overwhelming.

Your transition in life is completely unique to you in whatever shape this takes. This might be, finding ways to be in world following changes to your health, divorce, bereavement, becoming a parent, starting new relationships or new journeys. Your journey matters.

Our emotions and feelings can behave in ways that sometimes feel difficult to understand, especially as these aren’t visible or tangible. At times we face not knowing how to control how we feel, be this, anxious, depressed, angry, sad, chaotic or confused. Art Psychotherapy is helpful in bringing ‘underground’ conflicts to light.

It can sometimes be a struggle to see ourselves the same way other people do. Conflicts that perhaps exist might be feeling worthless, low self esteem, insecurities, confusion about our identities or sexualities.

Humans are social creatures, we yearn to find ways of belonging. Building stable and meaningful relationships are ways which help us to obtain feeling that we belong. Where it might feel difficult to communicate using words, this can compound feelings of isolation.

Behaviour is defined as the way in which one acts or conducts oneself. Your behaviour might indicate ‘underground’ conflicts which manifest negatively on your life. This might include becoming withdrawn, lacking in motivation and concentration, neglecting yourself, wanting to hurt yourself and contemplating suicide.

It can feel difficult to break away from patterns we have identified which allow us to feel safe from re-experiencing traumatic experiences. A trauma might be related to domestic violence, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, neglect and bullying. When we open up to the possibility of exploring trauma in a safe, confidential space, this can allow us to grow.
